Support for Caregivers

Care Management
The ADAC staff can provide the individual, family and caregivers with important care management assistance.

This may include:

  • a family meeting and needs assessment
  • recommending supportive services such as adult day services or respite care
  • exploring options and community resources
  • designing a care plan that fits the needs of the individual, family, and/or caregiver
  • changing the plan as the abilities of the person and the family change

Education and Support Services
Education about Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia is key to understanding the affected individual and how that individual might change as the disease progresses over time. Knowledge and understanding will help caregivers develop coping skills and learn what to expect as the disease progresses. Education will provide the skills and knowledge about effective interventions that may provide the essentials for day-to-day living and caring for a person with memory impairment.

Team of Specialists
ADAC is comprised of a team of specialists who have expertise in elder care and dementia. They provide education and support services for people with Alzheimer's disease and other types of memory loss or dementia, their family members, caregivers, and health professionals.
