Welcome to the Future of Elder Care ... Make Yourself at Home

ELITE CARE TECHNOLOGY - A Voluntary Program for Residents and Families of The Terrace at Hawthorne Ridge/Eddy Alzheimer's Center at Hawthorne Ridge

Elite Care Technology designed a fully integrated data collection system especially for The Terrace at Hawthorne Ridge and Eddy Alzheimer's Center at Hawthorne Ridge. We use the technology to enhance the independence of our residents, as well as create a medium for connections and relationships.

Elite Care owns and operates Oatfield Estates, a residential care center operating in Milwaukie, Oregon since 2000. Elite Care's approach integrates center design, operational philosophy, and computer-based technology. The purpose is to empower residents and engage them in more active, independent living while minimizing risk. Elite Care Technology goals are:

  • Foster residents' independence by monitoring their activities for risk
  • Encourage residents' social networks through activity and communications systems
  • Assess and control care quality by monitoring care encounters
  • Maintain a database or resident activity level to analyze long-term changes in conditions
  • Reduce labor and utility costs by monitoring residents and building control, respectively

Elite Care Portal

The Elite Care Technology Portal is comprised of two parts - the Administration portal, and the Family portal. From the portal, family members, residents and staff can access the vast amount of data collected about the residents in a readable format.

The Family Portal

The Family Portal provides family members with a wealth of information about their loved one that no other local facility has previously been able to supply. It allows families to see pertinent information about the resident such as:

Assistance: How often residents call for assistance and how long it took for the care to be provided. This is reassuring to families that their loved one is indeed being provided with the highest level of care.
Movement
: A location history of where on campus they have been and how long residents spent in each location. This will help give an idea of how active they are in the community.
Weight
: Trends in their weight, indicating good or bad health.
Sleep
: Trends in resident sleeping patterns, indicating whether or not they feel comfortable and at home.
Socialization
: How much time residents spend alone, with caregivers and with others.
Activities
: How active a lifestyle they have, with a report of what activities they have participated in (including pictures). This not only keeps the family up to date on activites residents have been involved in, but also lets them know that they are out and about, staying active and having fun.

Security

Both the Family and the Administration portals are secured by using user name and password protection, and access control. Users are granted access to only the information necessary to complete their task, and families can only view information related to their own family member. This ensures the privacy and security of all resident specific information.

Medical professionals find some of the information valuable, providing them with an overview of daily living information such as trends in weight, sleep patterns, and level of activity. These, combined with the other medical information they gather, help to draw a clearer picture of a resident's health.
