A Message From the Chairman
I first joined the Samaritan Hospital Foundation board of directors in 1991. Six years later, the name was changed to Northeast Health Foundation, as the result of the integration of Samaritan Hospital and The Eddy. Shortly thereafter, Albany Memorial Hospital joined Northeast Health and two years later, Northeast Health Foundation and the Albany Memorial Foundation were consolidated into one corporation.
Recently the Foundation hired DeLauro & Associates Consulting, a consulting firm serving not-for-profit organizations nationwide, to conduct a Strategic Planning Study. The purposes of the study were:
- analyze and quantify the success and productivity of the Foundation's existing programs
- to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for growth of the organization
- to meet ambitious, long range financial goals
The outcome of this rigorous, five-month process was the formation of a strategic plan to energize the board, streamline staff functioning, localize fundraising efforts, and improve internal planning and communication.
A key element identified during the development of this plan is the need for more planned giving. If you are not yet a member of the Northeast Health family of donors, please accept this invitation to join this caring group of visionaries who believe that we can achieve healthcare that works, is safe, and that leaves no one behind in our community.
I am so proud of Northeast Health and its affiliates. I am also proud of our many donors who are making the greatest difference in improving our community. By increasing planned giving, we could have power to bring about even more changes that matter so much in this ever-changing world of healthcare and senior housing. The foundation staff is available to explain all the planned giving options we have to offer.
No one can measure the good your donations will accomplish - nor could we thank you adequately for your generosity! So much can be done for our patients, residents and the community through your gifts. Every area of life can be touched by your goodness.
